Pillar 1: PhD colloquiums

The PhD colloquiums are obligatory and are held every second week during the semester or are blocked at the end of the semester. First semester doctoral researchers each present one important book (“most inspiring book”), which they think will be of special importance to their thesis. Second semester students present a draft exposé, which outlines the research design of the thesis. In either the third or fourth semester, doctoral researchers present a more detailed status report on their dissertation to clarify final research design questions. During the fifth semester, each student is expected to present at least one chapter of their thesis or an article or conference paper, which is directly related to their thesis.
