Family and Childcare

It is not easy to accommodate family, study, and work – but it is possible. It requires determination and a strong will, but also organizational talent and a reliable network. The University of Potsdam does its part in meeting this challenge and is committed to being a family-friendly place. Because the reconciliation of work, studies and family is a vital element, Potsdam University has undergone the auditing process “Family-friendly University” in 2008. At the moment, the stipulated goals to improve the family orientedness are being realized. The support offers of the Central Office for Equal Opportunities, such as the Family Service, bridge-scholarships and the organization and financing of a flexible emergency day-care at the University, are especially noteworthy. Places at day-care are provided in collaboration with co-operation partners. The Parents-Network organizes a monthly brunch with a family-relevant program. A mobile playground can be rented for conferences etc. A campus-playground, parent-child rooms at all campuses and family-corners in the cafeterias help the conditions for families at the university.
